RoHS Statement

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC restricts the use of six hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. All applicable products in the EU market from 1 July 2006 must now be RoHS compliant. Any business that sells applicable electronic products, sub-assemblies or components directly to EU countries, or sells to resellers, distributors or integrators that in turn sell products to EU countries, is affected if they utilise any of the restricted materials.

EMS Manufacturing has worked, for many years, to ensure that all products we manufacture will be RoHS compliant from June 2006.

RoHS Compliance means that in conformity to EU Directive 2002/95/EC of 27 January 2003, on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers are not present in quantities exceeding the following maximum concentrations in any homogeneous material, except for applicable exemptions:

0.1% (by weight of homogeneous material) lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers, or 0.01% (by weight of homogeneous material) cadmium.

EMS Manufacturing defines homogeneous materials as materials that cannot be mechanically disjointed into different materials. Examples of homogeneous materials are electroplated coating, moulding compound, insulation sleeve, lead frame alloy and bonding wires.

Tin lead (Sn Pb) finish is still available, on request, for many of our products.
